Joel Havea & Famili Choir
Joel Havea & Famili Choir is a developing live music project exploring over 100 years of the Havea family's songwriting catalgoue through a contemporary diasporic lens.
The repertoire blends songs from Joel Havea’s extensive back catalogue with compositions by Joel’s great uncle Manoa Havea, a significant Tongan composer and choirmaster who co-wrote with Queen Salote Tupou III and songs from other members of the Havea family across multiple generations.
Famili Choir creates a conversation between generations, blending soul, folk, gospel and Pasifika musical traditions and 4-part harmonies into an intimate live performance focused on themes of migration and belonging.

Mass Formation EP
The COVID-19 years were a defining moment of our lifetime: socially, psychologically, and culturally. And yet, musically, it’s as if they never happened. Mass Formation is a collection of songs written in response to that silence.
The EP explores themes of social pressure, collective behaviour, institutional failure, and the uneasy feeling of watching systems fracture in real time, with songs ranging from produced (i.e. the title track co-produced with Toby Dundas) to raw and intentionally unpolished.
